Spending a mid-summer afternoon cruising on the alpine lake Issyk-Kul in the mountains in Central Asia with Kyrgyz, Uzbeks, Tajikis, Kazakhs, Turkmens and Mongolians, watching them consume boxes of vodka and dried fish in the sun, sharing little more than a few words of English and Vodka between us but having heartfelt conversations all the same!
