A short ferry trip west from Perth, Rottnest Island is one of the best kept secrets of Australia with its string of sugar-white beaches and emerald bays. A pleasant tour around the island can be taken by bus (as pictured) but one should also explore by bike for the true experience. Just make sure your tandem bike has gears, I beg you.
