adventures in reflective surfaces
Vanity
I've always been inordinately fascinated by images of people's mirror reflections, shot from behind them. The unlikely yet proven certainty that the two figures in the photo are one in the same, captured at the same instant. On this day, I propped my camera up on a towel rack, set the timer, and checked myself in the bathroom mirror much more often than I normally would. Subsequent shots show a tidier vanity, and an adjusted angle, set to avoid the camera showing. Prettier, but not as honest. And no Tony Soprano postcard sent from a friend to daily remind me to "floss or die."
