Mannequin Hands and the Elm Festival
The village festival was in full swing, with a washboard band bringing up audience kids to make cacophonous music and sun-dazzled crowds swarming the booths for midwest-style barbecued ribs and corn on the cob. As the weekend visitors sidled past, these mannequin hands stood silent vigil in their manicure shop window, standing erect, still and strangely psychedelic.
