adventures in reflective surfaces
A golden mirror project
John Sutton, my husband, builds furniture and restores antiques. A few weeks ago he agreed to restore a bullseye mirror that had been abandoned to reflect cobwebs in an old barn. The silver was peeling from the glass and the frame was crumbling away. With great patience, he pieced it together and then gilded it, bringing it to its former splendor. Here the mirror lies flat on the sawhorses in his studio, ready to be delivered. I wonder what will it reflect in its new life.
