adventures in reflective surfaces
La Jolla, CA USA
Photo Art Show
The invitation arrived from my friend Sarah, that one of her photos was going to be included in a gallery showing with 50 other artists, in downtown La Jolla. I arrived fashionably late (who goes early to this stuff?) and had to squeeze my way through endless elbows and asses to get from room to room for viewing. Most of these people were there to schmooze and partake of the snacks set out, including a large cake and endless bottles of wine.At one point, while I tried to get a view of a large photo, someone tipped over their cake plate and it fell, icing first, to the floor within inches of my shoe. Later, someone spilled red wine all over a young woman's white outfit and she had to endure the evening with everyone remarking behind her back. When things got a little quieter, I weaseled my way back to the last room which fronted the rear courtyard. There posted above the doorway was a mirror,no doubt intended to catch anyone who might attempt fleeing with one of the artworks. To me it was there to put all into perspective with my camera for you.
