Library Portrait
I shot this in the stairwell of MLK Library in Washington, D.C.

The D.C. public library system is a disgrace, and I have no problem saying that publicly. At just the main branch, you have librarians who don't seem literate, an aging facility and technological infrastructure which never seems to work. Water literally seeps through the ceilings in some spots, and last time I was there they simply used a system of hanging plastic sheets to direct the water into trash cans. Awesome.

It's a shame, really, but I suppose it makes sense. As much as I love the city, it's been neglected in the ways which make residents proud. The public library system us just one small indication.
