adventures in reflective surfaces
chihuly's gigantic shiny baubles
There's a huge installation by renowned glass artist Dave Chihuly at Kew Gardens in London at the moment: this photo was taken in the Temperate House, an ancient Victorian glasshouse where the intensity of coloured glass winking from the undergrowth reaches something of a crescendo. Right in the centre, hanging from the very tall ceiling, there is a string of gilded and tinted glass spheres, like vastly inflated fishing floats or a tumble of unseasonal baubles. I found myself looking back from one hanging low and golden.
