atlanta - first snowday of 2002
atlanta is mocked for reacting so strangely to snow. we're not tough enough, we don't know how to drive in ice, we can't handle a little weather. the meteorological mention of flurries sends moms and grandmothers scurrying to the grocers for bread and milk. workers are sent home early (see picture). the whole city shuts down and waits for the streets to thaw.yes. it is mostly true. mostly. but we appreciate the glory of a snowday, a vacation day determined not by choice or national recognition, but by an act of nature. slow down. have a cup of coffee. think for a minute...
