In Argentina, it is a ritual to partake of a bit of mate (ma-tay) with friends. These bowls are sold everywhere and are filled with the mate herbs into which a metal "straw" is inserted with which to drink from. Pour your hot water in and suck the straw. Keep refilling until you've had enough.
