adventures in reflective surfaces
las vegas flamingo
This was taken as we were walking to our hotel room at the Las Vegas Famingo, the first hotel & casino in LV, the one founded by Bugsy Siegel. It was also the first visit for Joe and I.
BiPasha had made the reservations and got a deal at $50 per night. What a strange mix of the cheap and the over-the-top! Everything was inexpensive but enormous amounts of money were being spent. The nicer casinos had upbeat and celebratory moods but then we'd walk into a seedier casino and while the people were doing exactly the same things, the mood was definitely depressing.
I like to think that this photo is an apt representation of our trip for us. Las Vegas was colorful, clashing, dizzying, and somewhat sad.
