adventures in reflective surfaces
In the Shadow of Imperialism
I read Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee the summer I visited Mount Rushmore. It made for a surreal experience and I spent time self-reflecting as I read the official story of the park and compared it to Dee Brown's history from native perspectives. It was hard to stomach the carving of powerful white men on sacred native land dominating the beautiful Black Hills.
